Is Facebook sarcastic?
TweetEveryone knows Facebook. They’re that massive Social Network that seems to be trying to conquer the world. Well have you ever noticed this message on a profile page.
***** only shares some of their Profile information with everyone
This notification appears when you view a profile that is not one of your friends and they have their privacy set to ‘everyone’. Is this a simple mistake through copyrighting or programming or something more sinister? Is Facebook being sarcastic and if so should they retype it as
***** “only” shares some of their Profile information with everyone
Maybe the quotations marks would make it clearer. Either way I think the biggest social network on the planet should probably check that it’s messages and notifications should make sense.
What do you think? Is Facebook being sarcastic? Is it a mistake? Or do I have a poor grasp of the english language?
Update:
After a conversation with a friend on Facebook it turns out that I could have a poor grasp of the english language after all. Quoted from my friend Carrie;
“Isn’t the emphasis on the word “some” ? They only share “some” of their info with everyone, the rest they share with just friends?”
Now it seems to make sense. I should stop writing in the middle of the night.
